Stephens Co. Sheriff’s Office Arrests “Peeping Tom”

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office makes a “peeping Tom” arrest.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint on April 3 regarding a video recording device being located in the women’s restroom of a local business.

Deputies met with the female who had made the discovery and recovered the device. Due to the nature of the incident, the Special Victims Unit of the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division was assigned to investigate the case.
Using footage from the device itself, investigators were able to identify a suspect, 36-year-old Jeremy Keith Singleton of Toccoa, and sought him out for questioning.

Deputies found Singleton at his residence and subsequent to questioning arrested him on one count of Eavesdropping, Surveillance, or Intercepting Communication Which Invades Privacy of Another.

Singleton was transported to the Stephens County Jail where he is currently being held pending a first appearance hearing before a judge. Investigators also obtained a search warrant for Singleton’s residence and recovered several other devices capable of storing digital media.

According to Sheriff Randy Shirley, investigators are still reviewing digital media discovered on these devices. Sheriff Shirley also stated that the investigation is quote, “ongoing and we do expect more charges to be filed in connection with this case.”
