TFC Begins Fall Sports Season

As students returned to campus for the first week of classes, the fall athletes at Toccoa Falls College wrapped up their grueling preseason camps.

Men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball each began their regular season competitions within the last several days.

The volleyball program opened their 2015 season with a three match sweep of conference foe Trinity Baptist College on August 29.

In the victory, sophomore Kaitlin Weidner led the attack with 13 kills, and Sarah Schaeffer added 25 assists. Newcomers Makenzie Moore and Katie Hall each had 11 digs in defense. And Courtney Bechtold led Toccoa with five of the team’s 17 service aces.

Men’s soccer began its new season by dropping each of its first three matches. Toccoa was defeated by Laurel University, Kentucky Christian and Hillsdale Free Will.

Cortez Swain scored Toccoa’s goal in the Kentucky Christian loss.

The women’s soccer team has also struggled in the early going. TFC fell at Truett McConnell College, to Columbia International University, and at Bluefield College.

Finally, men’s and women’s cross country opened their season at Truett McConnell College.
