Titans Sweep Indians

North Oconee scored six runs in the 2nd inning, added three more in the third inning, and used six different pitchers to hold on and defeat the Stephens County Indians 12-8 Friday night in Bogart.

The Titans scored six runs on six hits in the bottom of the 2nd inning to chase Indians starter Dawson Sorrells. The Titans led 9-0 in the top of the 6th inning, but the Indians scored 5 runs on 4 hits in the inning to close within 9-5. North Oconee added three more runs in the bottom of the inning to stretch the lead to seven. The Indians came back to score three more in their last at bat for the final tally.

The Titans had 13 hits in the game.

Griff Pruitt led the Indians at the plate with 2 doubles and three RBI’s. Isiah Martin added 2 RBI’s, and Dawson Dean and Dawson Sorrells had one each. The Indians left 10 runners on base in the game.

Sorrells took the loss for the Indians to fall to 5-2 on the season. Chaz Bridges pitched 4 2/3 innings of relief. North Oconee starter Dylan Wilhelm got the win.

North Oconee wins all three games in the series and moves to 8-4 in Region-8 AAAA play and 17-7-1 overall. Stephens County falls to 5-7 in the Region and 19-8 overall.

With Madison County’s win over Oconee County on Friday night, the Indians must now take at least two of the three games vs. St. Pius this week to make the state playoffs, and still have an outside chance to finish 3rd in the Region. The Indians will host St. Pius Monday at the Reservation. Monday’s game is also Senior night. Airtime is set for 5:45 P.M. with first pitch at 5:55 P.M. on WNEG.
