Toccoa Celebrating Georgia Cities Week

The Toccoa City Commission will hold the regular meeting today in the Commission meeting room at 5 p.m. Included in the agenda is a proclamation for this week as Georgia Cities Week.

The city will be holding a variety of events throughout the week, including Touch a Truck and a Customer Appreciation Day at City Hall. The theme of this year’s Georgia Cities Week is “Cities in the Mix,” highlighting cities’ important role in creating community gathering spaces and driving economic development.

This is the 18th year Georgia Cities Week has been celebrated in the state.

Events planned for the week are: Touch a Truck tomorrow and a Customer Appreciation Day on Thursday at City Hall.

Children are invited to come and touch and climb on some of the city vehicles during the Touch a Truck event. Trucks will be set up in the First Citizens Bank parking lot tomorrow on the corner of Doyle Street and Broad Street from 3–5 p.m.

Customer Appreciation Day will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon in the lobby of City Hall.  The community is invited to come.

Cities across Georgia are celebrating Georgia Cities Week, sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA), to showcase and celebrate cities and the many services they provide. Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and consulting services to its 521 member cities.
