Toccoa Little League All-Stars Advance to Final

The Toccoa Little League All-Stars trailed Hart County early, but battled back to claim a 6-3 win on Wednesday night to advance to the District 7 final in Rabun County.

Hart County struck first scoring three runs on five hits in the bottom of the 2nd. Toccoa climbed within one in the top of the third when Bailey and Abe Stowe had back to back doubles, and Carson Worley singled.

Toccoa added two more runs to take the lead in the 4th inning when William Adams, Nick Randall, and Mason Dyer all singled. Adams scored on a fielders choice off the bat of Bailey Stowe to tie the game, and Devin Cobb, running for Randall, scored from third on a passed ball to give Toccoa their first lead at 4-3.

Hart County threatened in the 5th inning getting runners to second and third with less than two outs, but two big strikeouts on the mound by relievers Patrick Murray, and Worley ended the inning.

Toccoa added two insurance runs in the 6th inning when Worley had an RBI single scoring Cobb from third, and Adams scored tagging from third on a foul ball caught by the Hart first baseman.

Cooper Smith started the game on the mound for Toccoa, and was relieved by Ben Stowe, Murray, and Worley- The latter striking out 4 of the 5 he faced.

Murray led Toccoa at the plate with 3 hits, Worley had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Hart County’s Riley Posey was outstanding on the mound going 5 innings allowing 4 runs and striking out 8.

Toccoa will now face the winner of tonight’s Franklin and Hart game on Friday. If Toccoa wins they will be District Champions, if they lose, there will be another game on Saturday. Airtime Friday night is 6:45 P.M. with first pitch at 7 on WNEG.
