Toccoa Little League Teams Continue Tournament Play

The Toccoa Little League baseball team opened District 7 tournament play with a bang on Monday night with 15 hits including 6 home runs to out offense Franklin 17-10 in Rabun County.

Toccoa got home runs from Abe Stowe, Carson Worley, Ben Stowe, Devin Cobb, and two from Mason Dyer.

Toccoa scored 10 runs in the top of the 2nd and led 13-2 heading to the bottom of the third, but Franklin scored 4 in the bottom of the third, and 4 in the bottom of the 4th to trim the lead to 14-10.

Carson Worley, Toccoa’s 4th pitcher in the game, came on in relief with two on and one out in the 4th inning and proceeded to strike out all eight hitters that he faced to secure the win.

Toccoa will next play on Wednesday against tonight’s Habersham-Hart winner. Habersham defeated Rabun County 5-4 in the night’s other contest.

In State Playoff action, the Toccoa 10U Softball team eliminated the host team Warner-Robins on Monday night 15-12. Trailing 4-1 in the top of the third, Toccoa scored 10 runs in the inning to lead 11-4, and got the final out with two on base to get the win.

Toccoa will now face West Point tonight at 6 P.M. in an elimination game. West Point lost to Northern of Columbus 17-2 last night. Northern has advanced to the final and will face the winner of the Toccoa-West Point game at 8 P.M. tonight.

The Toccoa 10U baseball team was eliminated in State tournament play yesterday with a tough 11-10 loss to Peachtree City in Savannah.

Toccoa took an early 6-3 lead, but Peachtree City battled back to lead 9-6 and took a two run lead in to the final frame. Toccoa had the tying run at third with one out, but tried to tag on a fly ball and was thrown out to end the game.
