Toccoa Woman Faces Forgery, Fraud Charges

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said a Toccoa woman is facing charges after allegedly stealing someone’s personal information.

The sheriff said Samantha Nicolette Chastain, age unknown, of Highway 184 in Toccoa, was arrested and charged with 10 counts of Felony Financial Identity Fraud and Felony Forgery in the First Degree.

Shirley said the report indicates Chastain fraudulently obtained and used the personal information of another to secure a loan at the financial company that Chastain was currently an employee of.

According to the sheriff, an investigation revealed that Chastain received monetary gain from the fraudulent transaction, based on financial records examined by authorities.

Shirley said Chastain was being held at the Stephens County Jail with bond set at $150,000 at last report.
