Townville, S.C. School Shooting Suspect To Appear in Court

The 14-year-old teen suspected in the Townville Elementary School shooting and same day shooting of his father near the Anderson County, South Carolina school is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing later today.

That hearing is set for 11 a.m. today at the Anderson County Couthouse.

South Carolina 10th Judicial Circuit Solicitor Chrissy Adams said the hearing is closed to the public since the suspect is a juvenile.

Adams said this will be an initial detention hearing for the judge to determine probable cause for the pending petitions and the juvenile’s detention status.

She went on to say that prosecutors will not be answering further questions at this time because of the nature of the case and the ongoing investigation.

The teen is suspected in the death of his father, 47-year-old Jeffrey DeWitt Osborne, prior to shooting two students and a teacher on the playground at Townville Elementary School Wednesday afternoon.

One of those students, Jacob Hall, remains in critical condition after he was shot in the leg, fighting for his life.

Doctors said the bullet hit the femoral artery, causing massive blood loss and cardiopulmonary arrest.

The other student and the teacher who were injured in the shooting were treated and released Wednesday.
