Two Recent Drug Arrests in Stephens Co.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley reports two recent drug arrests.

On Saturday, May 13 around 2 a.m., deputies arrested Jason Ruff, age 41 of Toccoa, after a traffic stop on Highway 123.

According to Shirley, deputies recovered Cocaine, Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Marijuana and another unknown drug that is to be analyzed at the GBI Crime Lab.

Ruff is charged with distribution of Marijuana, distribution of Cocaine, distribution of Hydrocodone and distribution of Oxycodone.

Ruff was released from the Stephens County Jail on Monday after posting a $50,000 bond.

Another drug arrest occurred on Tuesday, May 16 when deputies received information that Kathy Danette Chatham, age 53 of Toccoa, had purchased methamphetamine in Stephens County. Chatham was reportedly driving a 1988 Ford Bronco and deputies spotted her vehicle on South Pond Street. They then stopped her for failure to dim headlights.

Deputies found a plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine inside Chatham’s purse. She was charged with possession of methamphetamine and failure to dim headlights. A passenger in the vehicle identified as Brandon McFarlin, age 32 of Carnesville, was also arrested for an outstanding bench warrant.

Chatham remains in the Stephens County jail and had her first court appearance yesterday at 4 p.m.
