Two to Run in Special Election

Two candidates will run in the special election this March to serve out the remainder of the unexpired term of the late Harold Andrews on the Stephens County Commission.

Qualifying wrapped up Monday at noon.

Michelle Grafton and Ralph Stowe were the only two candidates to qualify for the seat.

Grafton, 31, is a real estate agent.  Stowe, 59, is retired.

Both qualified as Republicans.

The two will now run head to head in the special election on March 18.

Early voting for the special election will begin on February 24 and the deadline to register to vote is February 18.

Whoever wins the special election will serve until Andrews’ term expires on December 31.

The seat will also be on the ballot in the general election later this year for a new full four-year term that would begin on January 1, 2015.

Qualifying for that full four year term will be in early March.
