Update on Schools Central Office Move

The Stephens County school system is still on track to move its central offices in the coming weeks.

Stephens County School Superintendent Bryan Dorsey updated the Stephens County Board of Education on the move plans at its work session and called meeting on Thursday.

Dorsey said that they are on schedule for moving to the old Big A School Building later this year.

“We should be in there by Thanksgiving,” said Dorsey. “We are excited about that.”

According to Dorsey, the school system’s central offices will move from their current location on Mize Road out to the old Big A School.

That has most recently been the home of Mountain Education Charter High School’s Toccoa location.

However, Mountain Ed has moved out to the old Eastanollee Elementary School starting this Fall.

Dorsey said that as part of the move, the central office will use some of the furniture and equipment that remains at the Eastanollee Elementary building.

“As we look at doing our central office location, we know that we are going to take some of the stuff,” said Dorsey.

Dorsey said that other staff members are also still going through things at Eastanollee Elementary to see if there is anything out there they need that they can use.

“When they need something or want to exchange something, they go out there and search first,” said Dorsey.

Once teachers and staff have gotten everything they need out of the building, Dorsey said they will look at what to do with the equipment and furniture that is left.

Dorsey also said that Mountain Ed is fully operational in Eastanollee, with everything going well as far as what he has been told.
