Voter Registration Deadline Today

Today is the deadline to register to vote in order to vote in next month’s primary election.

Stephens County Registrar Theresa Kelley said that those who are not registered to vote yet must do so by the end of the day today in order to be able to vote in the upcoming primary election.

“They can either come into the office to register,” said Kelley. “They can register online through the Secretary of State’s Office, the library, or DDS, but you need to be registered by 5 p.m. today.”

Something that is new for Georgia within the last few weeks is online voter registration.

People can register to vote online at the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office website,

Kelley said that in its first few weeks, online voter registration has gone well.

“We have had a few register online and that is kind of neat,” said Kelley.

To register online, you need a Georgia drivers’ license and a valid e-mail addresss.

Voters in Stephens County will head to the polls next month for a primary election. The election includes seats on the Stephens County Commission, Stephens County Board of Education, and State House of Representatives.

Early voting for the primary starts next Monday at the Stephens County Government Building.
