Walnut Grove Blanks Indians in Region Baseball

The Stephens County Indian baseball team lost its first Region 8-AAAA game of the season Monday at the Reservation, dropping a 6-0 decision to the Walnut Grove Warriors.

Walnut Grove junior right-hander Chandler Hyman limited the Indians to just three hits, all singles, and struck out six, in picking up the win.

Meanwhile, Josh Slate took his first loss of the season on the mound for Stephens County.

The Warriors’ Hunter Rabb homered to lead off the top of the second inning for the Warriors and Walnut Grove never looked back.

Walnut Grove added another run in the second inning, one in the fifth, and three insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

Stephens County is now 4-1 in Region 8-AAAA and 11-3 overall on the season, while Walnut Grove moves to 5-0 in the region and 7-8 overall.

The two teams will play again Wednesday, this time at Walnut Grove High School.

First pitch on Wednesday is set for 5:55 p.m.
